WOW!!!
I guess these were missing from your own collection? The third clip, from that very first SB show in '83, looks like it's from another galaxy altogether.

The guy who posted the first two (1990) clips is from the south of Holland and has a fine collection of obscure video stuff from the eighties. Some of it comes from one of my pals, a die hard metalhead who has been tapetrading since 1983/'84.

Speaking of Sacred Blade live, Jeff - have you ever thought of getting out there and setting those amps up again? There would be some highly interested parties here. :)

And I know a great festival over here in Germany where that could take place.... ;)
For all the words unspoken, for all the deeds undone,
for all our shattered dreams, for all the songs unsung,
for all the lines unwritten and all our broken hearts,
for all our wounds still bleeding and all our kingdoms come.

I have both of these shows on VHS (somewhere), along with a few others. That 1990 (I think) video was released without my permission by a former member of the band. There were other songs that performed better on that tape, although I haven't seen it since it was recorded. I need to get set up for video transfer as there is probably 5 or 6 hours of footage lying around here deteriorating.

The 1983 (again, I think) show was shot for cable broadcast. I had never played that guitar before, and back in those days vocals were never rehearsed (we didn't have a PA at rehearsal until the 1990s).

There have been discussions about live performances in Europe, but it's doubtful it will happen until I have another Othyrworld album out due to logistics. I also don't really think it would be fair to the fans to come over without being in proper performance shape, which will require a good deal of work after being out of the performance arena for so long.

Jeff, those clips are awesome! Especially the one with you wearing glasses

I understand that you would like to present the band in best possible shape and form but over here there are at least a few waiting for that to happen since the beginning of time (almost). You are talking about that since the rerelease of the SA-album. One may wonder why it takes such a long time to rebuild that band. Brewery takes it time, I guess?!

Talking about that new Othyrworld record. It's almost finished, isn't it?

To be honest, I think a SB live show in Europe will never happen, cause if it was possible, it could have happened in the last 25 years since your first show. You never will get something completely perfect and I do not think a new Othyrworld album will see the light of day in the next years, too. It took sooooo many years to have that album with nearly the same songs than on "Of The Sun And Moon", so I do not have so much faith in seeing that happening.

I am disappointed that such a talented musician seems to be unable to fix at least some things. I am sure that nothing will happen on the live-front 'cos of this kind of incompetence. Sounds harsh but if you look at the past 20 years I have no other words to describe. As Holg said, sad but true.

When the Holgman is right, he's right.
Still, I keep a tiny bottle of hope stored safely away, from which I take an even tinier sip every now and then. It's become a habit, you know, like with Oli and Cirith Ungol, or SMMichael and John Arch.

Coming to Europe has nothing to do with fixing things or having things perfect, it has to do with the financial and logistical realities of preparing and taking a band on the road. I have yet to see a realistic offer to play in Europe - sorry, but playing for free is not going to happen, and without a new album to promote, putting together a live band for a single show makes no sense.

As for album production, the same realities apply. I am not willing to sacrifice quality for expediency or be limited by budget restraints, so until and unless CD sales are able to cover the high cost of production, work will continue when I have funding available and time away from the many other ventures I and the rest of the band are involved in. The only really sad part is that those true fans who are willing to step up to the plate and support us by buying our (legitimate) product have to be patient. I wouldn't count a new album or a European appearance out of the question, but they aren't going to happen overnight.

Are there any new songs written yet?

I have lost count how many songs have been written in the past 25 years, they number in the hundreds. A conservative estimate would be a song a month since 1978 - there is no lack of material available. There are 3-4 albums' worth that are developed enough to be put into production.

Did anybody suggested to play for free? I doubt that.

And ... Patience is my middlename but almost decades isn't a time-period I would call 'patient', my friend. I know your point but I can only repeat myself: You are losing most of those patient fans while you are working and reworking on material for ages. Sure you want a perfect release, something almost impossible.

Sometimes it sounds like you are not recording cause in ten years the technology might be better. Even Geddy Lee releases albums from time to time. He even did in times when there was no digital recording studios .... B)
