Okay, ich hab´s getan. Ich hab jetzt tatsächlich eine Kasette bestellt. Das ist soooo krank....

Aber der Reihe nach....

Normalerweise verabscheue ich die momentan im Underground übelst grasierende Tape Only Release Vorgehensweise ja total. Über die Gründe hab ich mich an anderer Stelle ja schon etwas deutlicher ausgelassen, also no need es hier nochmal aufzurollen. Ich mag es einfach nicht.

Tja, und dann kam der Tag an dem ich ein DEMON BITCH Video angeklickt habe. Grund dafür war eine Stormspell CD Ankündigung im Rahmen der Jewels Of Gwahlur Serie vor ein paar Jahren, bei der von "occult heavy metal from Detroit, Michigan" die Rede war. Ich also damals schnell rüber zu youtube, das Lied ´All Hail The King´ angeklickt....und es hat sofort gepasst. Lieder, die so geschrieben sind und sich so entwickeln, wie man es sich während dem ersten Anhören vorstellt bzw. wünscht. Ungezügelter Heavy Metal mit theatralischem, manche würden gar sagen weinerlichem Gesang, einer düsteren Grundatmosphäre, superherrlichen Gitarren Leads und einem hohen, durch all diese Zutaten resultierenden Kauzfaktor. Als ob der King in einem dunklen Raum´ne Kerze anzündet und mit BORROWED TIME (deren Debüt ich immer noch absolut grandios finde und die gute Bekannte von DEMON BITCH sind) jamt. Herrlich, richtig herrlich....

Leider kam der CD Release über Stormspell dann doch nicht zustande, aber die Band war weiterhin fleissig, arbeitete an neuem Stoff und präsentierte im vergangenen Mai ihr neustes Werk, die fabelhafte "Death Is Hanging" EP - leider wieder nur als Tape. Die Grundzutaten sind gleich geblieben, es wird jetzt vielleicht noch abwechslunsgreicher musiziert, die Refrains packen vielleicht noch fester zu und der Sänger leidet vielleicht noch ein Stückchen mehr - aber hört selbst:





Jetzt bleibt nur noch zu hoffen, dass die Lieder schleunigst auf CD (oder von mir aus auch auf Vinyl) rauskommen. Momentan scheint wohl nocht nichts in der Richtung geplant zu sein, aber in einem Interview mit der Metal Squadron Seite zeigte sich die Band offen gegenüber dieser Idee. Bis dahin muss ich wohl oder übel mit der Kasette vorliebnehmen....

Ach ja, hier noch das oben erwähnte ´All Hail The King´, mein Einstieg in die Welt von DEMON BITCH:

Die Band ist Super. Bei der Stormspell Ankündigung war ich auch gleich ganz hibbelig und entspechend enttäuscht, als auf Nachfrage die Aussage kam, es wird nichts mit der CD werden. Eine Tapekauf kommt für mich nicht infrage. Ich kann auch nicht verstehen, was eine Band damit ausdrücken will und was sie beim Tapetrading der 80er falsch verstanden haben.
Aber ich habe noch Hoffnung das da, vielleicht nächstes Jahr, ein vernünftiges Format erscheinen wird.

Hab jetzt mal diesbezüglich die Band kontaktiert. Es sieht gut aus.

Die Band arbeitet an einem Album.

Aber mal ehrlich, eine 3-Track CD ist auch keine Alternative...

Man könnte ja noch die drei Tracks vom Demo hinzunehmen.....

Ich bin begeistert! Klingt fast wie von einer guten alten US Metal Platte die irgendwer zufällig ausgegraben hat.

Was natürlich blöd ist, wenn es musikalisch der aktuellen Veröffentlichung mindestens ebenbürtig ist....

Ja ich mag beide gern. Ich denke wir werden uns einfach gedulden müssen und das Album wird dann sicherlich in allen Formaten erscheinen

It has been a long time since our last post, well we may be quiet ones - but we are keeping busy, so prepare for a long one as I attempt to keep you up to date on a lot of exciting news...

In T-Minus 2 days we will begin recording for a full-length album, which will be recorded and mixed by the capable hands of Friend Matt Prestone (Dungeon Beast, Ghost Tower, ex-Borrowed Time, ex-Silver Chrome), who will be our live-in liaison for the next month or so. I won't say much yet, but I have no problem saying we're taking it further over the top than ever before on this one. So, for the next few weeks we will be rockin' out in that Microdome that we like to call home. You are in our sights and we'll be honing in on you soon so take cover! More info as it comes...

Now secondly, we're very excited to announce that we have teamed up with German Label Underground Power in the Vinyl release of the Death is Hanging... EP + Demo '12 (featuring a previously unreleased bonus track off of the unreleased 2010 demo sessions)... The release date has not been announced from the plant yet, but you will be informed!

CD's are also in the talks, and will be available in the near future for all you disc heads that have been patiently waiting!

Das freut mich aber! Das "Death is Hanging" Tape war die erste Kassette, die ich mir seit 20 Jahren gekauft hatte...

White magician is a band from Detroit featuring all the members of Demon Bitch but some playing different roles, the metal is dark, the melodies catchy, the riffs over the top, the solos memorable. Please enjoy this sample and soon the pro press of 300 copies complete with 8 page booklet will be available for trade or purchase. This is unlike Demon Bitch, not a side project, but an alter ego.

Über den Namen "White Magician" bin ich schon ein paar Mal beim Durchforsten von Dankeslisten aus der Detroit-Szene gestolpert. Wobei ich mir bislang noch nicht einmal sicher war, dass es sich hierbei tatsächlich um eine Band handelt. Es scheint ja noch nicht einmal einen Eintrag bei den Metal Archives zur Band zu geben.

Insofern bin ich happy, jetzt auch mal in Hörproben reinlauschen zu können. Haut mich auf Anhieb nicht völlig um, aber der szene-typische Sound (Borrowed Time, Ghost Tower und - klar - Demon Bitch) ist erfreulicherweise schonmal da. Muss ich mich auf jeden Fall noch näher mit beschäftigen.

@Pavlos: Irgendeine Idee, was es an Tonträgern gibt bzw. wo man diese beziehen könnte?

Ich verfolge das ganze im Corroseum Forum. Eine offizielle Kontakadresse wurde dort bisher noch nicht mitgeteilt, aber da die Band aus DEMON BITCH Musikern besteht, würde ich die bekannten Kontaktwege nutzen, sprich facebook oder bandcamp. Ich bleib dran und meld mich.....
