DVP 297 Lucifer’s Hammer – Be And Exist LP/CD

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present the highly anticipated fourth album of Chile’s LUCIFER’S HAMMER, Be and Exist, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

Since their formation in 2012, Chile’s LUCIFER’S HAMMER have been fighting the good fight for heavy metal, both at home and abroad. During their first years, the homeland wasn’t as renown for traditional metals, but ever since their ascent to the international stage, LUCIFER’S HAMMER have wielded a wealth of influence on the wider Chilean heavy metal scene. Their Night Sacrifice demo in 2013 was their first public work, but it was the full-length Beyond the Omens debut in 2016 which really blew the doors open, reaping widespread acclaim and firmly establishing their trademark sound: pure & proud HEAVY METAL equally rooted in the ‘70s and ‘80s, with an air of anthemic memorability ala classic radio metal but never forgetting their underground roots. LUCIFER’S HAMMER really expanded upon that radio angle with the subsequent Victory is Mine mini-album a year later, showing darkness and versatility in equal measure. They further consolidated this sound with two more full-lengths, 2018’s Time is Death and 2021’s The Trip.

Now, longtime fans DYING VICTIMS step forth to raise high the banner of LUCIFER’S HAMMER with their fourth album, Be and Exist. The title is something of a clarion call for the Chileans: staying put in the ‘80s for years now, the band simply want to continue crafting true-as-steel HEAVY METAL that bangs the head as profoundly as it enflames the heart. Like an iron fist lined with velvet, there’s a deceptively silky surge to Be and Exist that drives deepest into the heart of mid ‘80s metal, all the while pumping pistons patiently and powerfully. With leads moody and emotive and founding frontman / guitarist Hades’ vocals ringing out through the night, across rain-soaked streets and through the back alleys, LUCIFER’S HAMMER here deliver a masterclass in mystery & atmosphere. The album’s attention-grabbing cover art vividly illustrates the point, but the band are certainly tackling more cosmic matters here, and it fits perfectly with the classy classic metal across Be and Exist. At any one point, one can detect the likes of prime Dokken, Heavy Pettin’, Diamond Head, Europe, Witch Cross, Virgin Steele, and even ‘80s KISS at their most metal – but the way these noble influences are rearranged and reformed into anthems is 100% LUCIFER’S HAMMER.

Indeed are LUCIFER’S HAMMER a band with a vision of the future, treading the metal boards for over a decade now with pure passion and hunger. Life doesn’t come easy in South America, and so have they made their music the ideal stage where the hammer will fall with force to demonstrate all that’s in their hearts. To Be an Exist – this is what heavy metal dreams are made of!

– Regular edition on black vinyl, with noble embossed cover sleeve, insert, poster, sticker, post card and download code.
– Special edition on transparent blue inyl, with noble embossed cover sleeve, insert, poster, sticker, post card, download code and patch.
– CD edition with sticker and obi.

DVP 298 Angel Sword – World Fighter LP/CD

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present ANGEL SWORD’s highly anticipated third album, World Fighter, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

Hailing from Helsinki, Finland’s ANGEL SWORD formed in 2010 with the intent to play old-school heavy metal. And they get right to it with the too-perfectly titled demo Where We Are Going You Cannot Come demo later that year. Two EPs followed – 2013’s Ripping the Heavens and 2015’s The Midwinter Tapes – before their decisive debut album, Rebels Beyond the Pale, in 2016. Another perfectly titled recording, ANGEL SWORD’s first full-length was a fresh breath of old air, finding some elusive (and deceptively laidback yet rough) landscape of late ‘70s heavy metal, subsequent NWOBHM, and adjacent early US power metal. Three years later followed the tighter and slightly more aggressive Neon City, expanding the band’s still-‘80s-bound gaze through a charmingly rustic retro-futurist lens. During all these years, ANGEL SWORD have opened for Manilla Road, Blitzkrieg, and Satan as well as playing such festivals as Metal Assault, Metalheadz Open Air, Storm Crusher warmup, and Up the Hammers warm-up. Oh, and along the way, Darkthrone’s Fenriz thoroughly championed the band!

“Our goal in this age of soulless, overproduced modern metal is to re-summon the metal gods of old with a skull-crushing, vomit-inducing dose of rough-edged heavy metal,” state ANGEL SWORD, and that’s exactly what they do with World Fighter! It’d be easy to simply say that their third album is a fairly even balance between the first two albums and…well, it’s kinda the truth! Sporting yet another amazing cover artwork, World Fighter brings the bathos and bravado right from its opening seconds, ANGEL SWORD sounding like true world fighters as they chug forward to their battle hymns. From there, nuance and shade – or, rather, just MOOD – become the watchwords as the quartet keep the thrust mostly mid-tempo, allowing their dark melodicism to fully take flight. And, while ANGEL SWORD never seem like they’re in any hurry, the eight tracks of World Fighter are actually the band’s most uptempo work yet; it’s just that they’re exuding such poise now that that pace feels deceptively relaxed, that big & brassy pulse coasting with coolness and heaviness. Put another way, the album’s almost-uniformly balls-to-the-wall gait summons an effervescent energy – and maximum attitude. Truly, ANGEL SWORD are nothing if not engaging in their rough ‘n’ tumble, raise-the-swords charisma, becoming those very blue-collar ruffians you can really believe in. Coupled with a smoother, somewhat-shimmering style of production that still allows their intrinsic grit to “shine” through, World Fighter goes against all odds to become ANGEL SWORD’s crowning achievement to date. All weekend warriors, enter their Church of Rock post-haste!

– Special edition on neon yellow vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card, download code and patch.

DVP 299 Vendel – Out In The Fields LP/CD

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present VENDEL’s highly anticipated debut album, Out in the Fields, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

VENDEL are an epic heavy metal band hailing from Moscow, formed in 2015 by a group of friends who are all members of the local metal community. From the onset, their inspiration was taken from genuine NWOBHM and ‘80s doom metal as well as the history and archeology of the Dark Ages period, which serves as the strongest influence on the band’s lore and their attendant lyrical and visual concepts. This combination – with a particular emphasis on the epic side of heavy metal ala classic Candlemass, Manilla Road, and Viking-era Bathory as equally as contemporary doom informed by the likes of the UK’s Solistice and Russian heroes Scald – manifested in VENDEL’s self-titled debut EP in 2017. Lyrically and aesthetically, there was a deep appreciation of the late Iron Age, also known as the “Vendel Era,” and hence the band’s moniker. They followed up that EP with another one, titled Dirge, in 2019, which included one new track as well as covers of Manilla Road and Saint Vitus. Also in 2019, VENDEL made their first live appearance outside Russia at the Riddle of Steel Fest, which made a huge impact on the band’s next activity.

At long last, that “next activity” has manifested in VENDEL’s debut album, Out in the Fields. While the band’s first full-length comprises two songs rerecorded from their EPs – the first one’s “Defender” and the title track to Dirge – this structure more so underlines where VENDEL are coming from and, with a suitably stage-setting intro segueing into the first track, then where they are going. Absolutely HUGE in sound and songwriting, atmosphere and execution, VENDEL here give a masterclass in EPIC heavy metal; “doomed,” definitely, but there’s energy to spare no matter the tempo, and thus do the four component tracks of Out in the Fields seemingly fly by in a flash. Make no mistake, the journey is vast in scale and arduous in terms of emotional reserves tapped, but the album is utterly engrossing each (HUGE) step of the way. Thankfully, VENDEL don’t abandon their core sound but, rather, re-solidify it with bigger & better production, performances that dazzle in their technique yet hit hard with their physicality, and vocalist Alexey Goryachev absolutely spellbinding the listener with tales of heroism and death, particularly on the poignantly titled “Never Surrender.” It all becomes the very definition of what a debut album should be.

Fans of the aforementioned as well as Solitude Aeternus, Atlantean Kodex, labelmates MEGATON SWORD, and even Tony Martin-era Black Sabbath, you are hereby commanded to bend the knee before VENDEL’s Out in the Fields. NEVER SURRENDER!

– Regular edition on black vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card and download code.
– Special edition on golden vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card, download code and patch.
– CD edition with sticker and obi.

DVP 303 Midnight Force – Severan LP/CD

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present MIDNIGHT FORCE’s highly anticipated third album, Severan, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

Formed in 2016, Glasgow’s MIDNIGHT FORCE are a heavy metal band that set out to follow in the footsteps of their heroes of old – US heavy metal, the NWOBHM movement, and ‘70s rock – as well as inject some fresh blood into the genre they love so much.
MIDNIGHT FORCE released their full-length debut, Dunsinane, in 2018 to much critical acclaim. DYING VICTIMS would release the cassette version later that year, and the band went on to play Brofest in Newcastle as well as support slots for the likes of High Spirits, Riot, and Ross the Boss in Glasgow and Angel Witch, Savage Master, and Riot City in Germany. Continuing that momentum, MIDNIGHT FORCE performed at other such notable festivals as Harder Than Steel Festival, Hell over Hammaburg, and Echoes from the Labyrinth in Crete as well as tours in Germany, Ireland, and the UK and shows in Paris, Athens, Marseille, and Madrid.

In October 2019, MIDNIGHT FORCE released their second album, Gododdin. Taking the elements of Dunsinane further – songwriting both heroic and melancholic (and even a bit folksy at times), hot-rockin’ execution to push that bravado further, and a rustic atmosphere equally 1970s and medieval – Gododdin was exactly the sophomore record MIDNIGHT FORCE needed to both expand and focus their ancient aesthetic. Olde Worlde Heavy Metal this was, based on historical lore and myth: in many ways, the band had arrived.
After a two-year hiatus induced by restrictions on international travel and live shows, MIDNIGHT FORCE released a new single in September 2022 and returned to the stage. Meanwhile, the seeds of their third album were being planted – and at long last, they’ve blossomed into Severan. Bristling with energy somehow stoic and patient, fit to burst but brewing dark thoughts, Severan sees MIDNIGHT FORCE truly taking their influences into a realm entirely their own. Totaling nine songs across 46 minutes, Severan sounds HUGE yet intimate. Its scope is again historical, the songwriting hits frantic peaks and stern valleys, the execution is even sharper whilst evincing old-school grit, and their characteristic atmosphere is OLDER than ever. Indeed, MIDNIGHT FORCE are engagingly earnest in their sonic campaign – true metal never dies and lives eternally, unfazed by time and trends, and its champions carry a great weight upon their shoulders of leather & steel – but above all, the aesthetic signposts is superlative songwriting, and this Scottish-German band have delivered their most refined set of songs to date. Severan is transportive to the extreme!

Five years in the making, MIDNIGHT FORCE’s Severan has arrived bearing banners of ancient metal myth & magick. Raise your swords and shields, those whose hearts beat True!

DVP 304 Warlust – Sol Invictvs In Vmbrae Satanae LP/CD

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present the highly anticipated third album of Germany’s WARLUST, Sol Invictus In Umbrae Satanae, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

Once one of the metal underground’s best-kept secrets, WARLUST began their assault on the false in 2012. The title of their debut demo, 2014’s Unholy Attack, said everything it needed to: here was blackthrashing METAL, steeped in the spirits of old and with genuinely evil blood coursing through its veins. However, it was 2017’s Morbid Execution debut album where WARLUST first truly took flight – on burning wings of flame! More intense, more epic, more heavy fucking metal, Morbid Execution carried on the noble work started by founding fathers Desaster in their homeland and Deströyer 666, Zemial, and Aura Noir abroad. Still, more swords were to be sharpened, and they were held aloft in glorious might on WARLUST’s second album (and first for DYING VICTIMS), 2020’s Unearthing Shattered Philosophies. Unshackling themselves from a strict(er) blackthrash template, the band’s songwriting blossomed on their sophomore assault alongside an increased understanding (and usage) of dynamics. Meanwhile, WARLUST’s simultaneously cryogenic / burning-hot melodicism heighten comparisons to classic Dissection and Necrophobic and justifiably garnered a wealth of acclaim upon its release.

That noble trajectory continues, four years later, on WARLUST’s Sol Invictus In Umbrae Satanae. That title serves as a clarion call for those who heed the call of Hell’s heavy metal – eternal, unyielding, suffused with strength and vigor in times of terror and triumph, melancholy and malevolence. Taking a wider view of WARLUST’s discography, this third album follows logically from its predecessor, making for an equally-cutting counterpart compared to the rougher outlier of the debut. Thankfully, then, little has changed in the band’s arsenal – the narratives are epic but always urgent, the melodicism still surges and sways with maximum evil, muscular chops melded with blackest atmosphere – but if there’s one uptick to be said for Sol Invictus In Umbrae Satanae, it’s how HUGE the whole record sounds. Much of that can be attributed to the pronounced integration of marching mid-tempos as well as some tasteful clean tones, but from the brief intro to bristling opener “Serpent Crown” onward, WARLUST exude both a tightness and clarity of execution that altogether spell “classy,” and all without any sacrifice of their original black/death fire. Put another way, with the palatably professional production pushing the album atop the uppermost echelon of nowadays evil metal, the Germans sound like they could command the biggest of stages, wielding their weapons of sonic sin with the composure and charisma befitting of total legends. But that legendry is still being written, and Sol Invictus In Umbrae Satanae is no doubt WARLUST’s biggest & boldest script yet!

– Special gatefold edition on black/golden vinyl, with poster, sticker, post card, download code and patch.

DVP 305 Bottomless/Witching Altar – Graveyard Thunder LP/CD

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present Graveyard Thunder, a special split album between BOTTOMLESS and WITCHING ALTAR, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

Graveyard Thunder is aptly titled, for it brings together two cult doom metal bands, each offering three exclusive new tracks for a total of 40 minutes of bewitching, bottom-heavy sound. BOTTOMLESS are likely familiar to those following the dark deeds of DYING VICTIMS, for the Spaniards released their second album, The Banishing, through the label last summer. While they largely stick to their tried & true template of classic Candlemass, Trouble, and Solitude Aeternus, there’s a certain silkiness to their entry here. “Soothing” is a strange misnomer, but not entirely inaccurate; slicked-up doom this is definitely NOT. Rather, one could maybe point to the almost-hushed haunting tones of Blue Öyster Cult’s “Burning for You” and indeed even “Don’t Fear the Reaper” as extrapolated touchstones for BOTTOMLESS’ velvety rumble on their three tracks – a unique and ultimately awesome development from this increasingly potent bunch.

WITCHING ALTAR complement their split-mates well, for they’re just as – if not more! – entrenched in the ‘70s and early ‘80s. And while the Brazilians had been on something of a hiatus until last year’s surprise release of the Morningstar EP, any new WITCHING ALTAR material is cause for celebration. Thankfully, no great changes have been made to their sound: always and forever, Ozzy-era Black Sabbath and oldest Pentagram form their foundation, fleshed out by the likes of Witchfinder General, Pagan Altar, and Count Raven. Maniacal DOOM METAL traditionalism for traditional doom metal maniacs, WITCHING ALTAR nevertheless inject their own spooky personality to proceedings, particularly on the titanic “The Crypts Below.” Graveyard Thunder rolls!

– Special edition on purple vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card, download code and patch.

DVP 300 Mean Mistreater – Razor Wire LP/CD

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present worldwide CD and vinyl LP editions of MEAN MISTREATER’s debut album, Razor Wire.

Formed in 2023, MEAN MISTREATER are a heavy metal band from Austin, Texas. Armed with heart-racing riffs and powerful vocals, they meld classic heavy metal with retro hard rock, inspired by bands like Chastain, Warlock, and W.A.S.P. In 2023, their debut single, “Bleeding The Night,” was named “Metal’s Song of the Summer” by Stereogum.com. Then, in early 2024, the band self-released their debut album, Razor Wire, featuring “Bleeding the Night” alongside seven other tracks.

An entirely DIY effort, Razor Wire now sees a worldwide vinyl edition courtesy of DYING VICTIMS, who were won over by MEAN MISTREATER’s bruising & blue-collar metal. Right from its opening seconds, Razor Wire exudes excitement and good-fucking-times every step of the way. While undoubtedly early ‘80s traditional metal by nature, the quintet don’t forget the hard rock foundation of so much early metal, and indeed ROCK OUT with the zip & zeal of prime Thin Lizzy and early Cirith Ungol. Indeed, that throwback nature isn’t so much an affection as an overall attitude: the recording’s warm and analog and fully HUMAN, never overloading the senses with sterile tones that are too much too often; the rhythm section provides the pounding pulse, steady and straightforward, but just as commandingly plays counterpart to the dazzling twin-axe attack; and frontwoman Janiece Gonzalez drives the point home with her gritty-yet-soulful voice, at times reminding of a young Suzi Quatro but always illustrating each song’s inner drama with bluesy aplomb. And then, at a little less than a half hour, Razor Wire’s over and it’s time to hit the back alleys with it again!

Embodying that “American Metal” that Lizzy Borden sagely sang about so long ago, with no jingoism attached nor intended, MEAN MISTREATER fly the flag prouder than ever now with this new worldwide edition of Razor Wire!

DVP 301 Death Racer – From Gravel to Grave LP/CD

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present DEATH RACER’s highly anticipated debut album, From Gravel to Grave, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

Hailing from Austria, DEATH RACER are nothing if not thorough. See, the idea for the band was born years ago while philosophizing during listening to Razor’s “Deathrace.” From there, a wellspring of inspiration followed – and the race was on!

DEATH RACER’s debut demo, released in 2020, was appropriately titled Qualifying. Musically, their most important influence, maybe – rawness, straightforwardness, DRIVE – are the same qualities a racecar driver must possess. Without zero fucks given and a will to make devilish sacrifices at times, you were never able to hit the final laps back in the dangerous days of motorsports; a certain backwardness and nostalgia for those days is the most important ingredient overall for DEATH RACER. In their mind, post-apocalyptic / dystopian movies – with their totalitarian atmosphere and hostile approach against all life – are mirroring in perfect symbolism that of relentless racing.

And so they race forward, more relentless than ever, with their long-awaited debut album, From Gravel to Grave. Also perfectly titled, From Gravel to Grave presents DEATH RACER as an all-pistons-pumping runaway racecar, chassis gleaming but torched black with exhaust underneath, its very construction pushing the outer limits of safety before all the screws fall loose and a fiery wreck ensues. For sure, it’s not difficult to spot the Austrians’ influences, and they wouldn’t have it any other way – they are transparent as they are thorough, to circle back to the earliest point – so therefore, there’s the obligatory “High Speed Metal” of classic Razor as well as the comparable grit & grime of equally old, raw metal like earliest Slayer, Exciter, Bathory, Hungary’s Tormentor, Bulldozer, true-metal Darkthrone, cult NWOBHM, Violent Force, and of course, erudite Teutonic thrash.

Still, it’s how DEATH RACER revs this noble engine that matters most, not how familiar it is (because what ISN’T familiar now?!), and they sneak some nitrous into that engine in the form of hardcore punk attitude and otherworldly black metal atmosphere as well as some touches of chorused guitar from old deathrock. But again, From Gravel to Grave is thorough as it is (filthy) fun, so its lyrics deal with true incidents / accidents on the world’s most demanding and terrifying racetracks (“Nordschleife,” “Imola ’94”) as well as the terrors of “real life” inspired by newspaper articles (“C.F.S.O.D.C”) or just plain fantasy (“Motormentor,” “S.M. Death Worship”) and daily struggles (“Inverted Crossroads,” “Traumatized in Traffic Jam Ejection”). All told, filth and fury and FUN. DEATH RACER is at the wheel, and you’re going From Gravel to Grave at 666 mph!

DVP 302 Demon Spell – Evil Nights MLP/MCD

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present DEMON SPELL’s striking debut mini-album, Evil Nights, on CD and 12” vinyl formats.

How would you feel if, during the night, while you’re lying on your bed, something touches you in the dark? The air grows cold, their eyes emerge from darkness, and you feel your body tense. The shivers begin, shocked by horror, possessed by unholy force – you cannot escape from this hell. Now evil breaks loose and you’re under a DEMON SPELL!

Such is the sonic sensation of DEMON SPELL’s debut mini-album, Evil Nights. The Italian quartet may be name in name, but their sound is most definitely OLD. Among that lineup are such veterans as drummer Dario Casabona, who played with Italy’s legendary Schizo for 20 years, and guitarist Francesco Bauso, who was a founding member stoner-doom titans Haunted. Along with vocalist Federico Fano and bassist Riccardo Liberti, DEMON SPELL bring forth HORROR and EVIL in purest ‘80s heavy metal form: obsessed maniacs who were born under the sign of the moon during terrifying nightmares and morbid rituals. Black-magic riffs, hellfire-burning drums, and soaring King Diamond-esque vocals from Fano telling untold tales from Hell and the beyond. Indeed, it’s difficult to shake the early Mercyful Fate comparisons with Evil Nights, but when it’s done with such blanching authenticity and eerie power, why fight it?! Of course, we could also invoke such names as ‘80s Satan’s Host, Witch Cross, and even the almighty Death SS, but on evidence of the four songs presented here, DEMON SPELL are already on their way in stirring up a bewitching cauldron of nocturnal delights. Celebrate darkness and scream out heavy metal ‘til your very last breath during these Evil Nights!

DVP 306 Blackevil – Praise the Communion Fire for the Unhallowed Sacrament LP/CD

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present BLACKEVIL’s highly anticipated third album, Praise the Communion Fire for the Unhallowed Sacrament, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

Hailing from Bavaria, BLACKEVIL have been forging fire since 2013. Their first demo, appropriately titled Hail the Cult, emerged from the darkness in 2015, auspiciously revealing a razor-sharp and endlessly salacious style of blackthrash. Come BLACKEVIL’s debut album, 2017’s The Ceremonial Fire, the power-trio up-ratcheted everything: more speed, more hooks, more black, more evil, more of MORE! Still, their breakout moment was yet to come. Under the auspices of DYING VICTIMS, BLACKEVIL released their second album, Forever Baptised in Eternal Fire, in 2020. Here, the duo laid it all on the line, taking their noble roots – most obviously the German thrash Big Three of Sodom, Kreator, and Destruction as well as evil speed metal legends like Razor, Evil Angel, OZ, and Exciter – and assimilating them something that was uniquely their own and yet uniquely and purely HEAVY METAL.

Now, with third album Praise the Communion Fire for the Unhallowed Sacrament, BLACKEVIL take bolder steps into the epic that they only hinted at prior. If its predecessor began to transcend “blackthrash” categorization, Praise the Communion Fire wholly does so, canvassing a wider range of other stylistic sizes – late ‘90s melodic black metal, same-era blackened death, early ‘80s epic metal, and even a bit of NWOBHM that preceded that – that altogether result in something that’s more unique than ever. The album’s runtime of 46 minutes across seven tracks no doubt suggests that turn toward the epic, and the songwriting indeed goes everywhere but still with remarkable focus. Their chops, while thankfully evincing a human touch, support these daring constructs with finesse and a finely honed clarity. Leads and otherwise-more-melodic riffs lead the charge into the battlefield, buttressed by dynamics that are never boisterous for their own sake; rather, they’re reigned in, allowing those riffs and rhythms to breathe, thus making the surges of energy all the more exciting. Put another way, BLACKEVIL aren’t just another black(ened) metal band flying off the rails, imparting one extreme expression after another: there’s actual class and craft at work here, honoring the ancient lore of heavy metal whilst adding to its lexicon. In that sense, the ceremonial reverence they exude truly supports the title Praise the Communion Fire for the Unhallowed Sacrament.

Forever Baptised in Eternal Fire reaped acclaim, but still left BLACKEVIL as a well-kept secret. Again blessed with (un)godly art by the masterful Paolo Girardi, Praise the Communion Fire for the Unhallowed Sacrament should once and for all establish BLACKEVIL as top-tier heavy metal blacksmiths!

– Regular edition on black vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card and download code.
– Special edition on halloween crush orange vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card, download code and patch.

DVP 307 Challenger – Force of Nature LP/CD

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present the highly anticipated debut album of Slovenia’s CHALLENGER, Force of Nature, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

The idea for Slovenia’s CHALLENGER started in the summer of 2016, when Jakob Rejec (ex-VIGILANCE, Ambra) was challenged to play a foodball game with Urban Železnik (SkyEye), and if Urban won, they would form a band together. Unfortunately, they never played the game, but still decided to form a band.

For the first lineup, they invited Blaž Tanšek (Mist, ex-Teleport) to play the bass guitar and Mihaela Žitko (Mist) to join on the drums. Through some jam sessions, the first riffs were made, and in November, the band had their first gig under the name Irön Breed, combining the surnames of Jakob and Urban, with Rejec meaning “breeder” and Železnik meaning “iron.” Soon after, they changed their name to CHALLENGER, and Mihaela left her drum duties to Toni Pleško (ex-Teleport, Natt, Đornata). In 2019, they released their first EP Turned to Dust to critical acclaim.

Corona times were not very fruitful for CHALLENGER, but in 2022, they came back with new blood on the bass guitar with Nika Krmelj (Eruption). With her, they finished their debut album and recorded a pre-production demo in the spring of 2023 but had to let her go soon after. The last lineup was formed with Samo Stopar picking up the bass guitar in the summer of 2023, with whom they finished recording their debut album in March 2024.

Now, at long last, that debut album is here: Force of Nature. Aptly titled, CHALLENGER’s first full-length draws from a deep well of heavy metal wisdom, and does so with gusto. Their stated influences include Saxon, Iron Maiden, Tank, Rainbow, Judas Priest, Venom, Mercyful Fate, Running Wild, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and the UK’s Satan, and verily do CHALLENGER siphon off both the best and most idiosyncratic strains of those legends’ DNA and reconfigure them into a travelogue of pathos and bravado. The songwriting across Force of Nature suitably gallops with energy, but the band patiently allow each construct to unfold, retaining a sense of austere grace in the process. The leads are majestic and many; most impart a melancholy seemingly at odds with the jaunty tempos explored, but the sum effect becomes one of steely-eyed stateliness perfectly in line with the album’s wider “doomed hero” drama. That CHALLENGER posses impeccable chops – to the man, with actual bass guitar prominent in the soundfield – only make these eight mini-epics gleam that much brighter.

CHALLENGER may unapologetically look the past, but their heavy metal heroism is truly timeless. Behold a true Force of Nature!

DVP 308 Sign of the Jackal – Heavy Metal Survivors LP/CD

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present SIGN OF THE JACKAL’s highly anticipated third album, Heavy Metal Survivors, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

Since 2007, Italy’s SIGN OF THE JACKAL have been carrying the torch for traditional, female-fronted HEAVY METAL of an authentically mid ‘80s vintage. Over the past 15 years, they’ve played stages all over Europe and delivered two full-lengths – 2013’s Mark of the Beast and 2018’s DYING VICTIMS-released Breaking the Spell – along with a preceding demo and EP: not too shabby for a band who began, humbly enough, with covers of obscure underground metal songs from the ‘80s! Naturally, the electric vocals of Laura DemonsQueen are front and center, but SIGN OF THE JACKAL’s gleaming chrome pulses with pure mid-‘80s speed metal energy, all injected with a heaping helping of classic ‘70s Italian horror atmosphere.

Now, a too-long six years since their last full-length, SIGN OF THE JACKAL are about to unleash their ultimate statement: Heavy Metal Survivors. The title itself is both a perfect summation of their sound and a loose thematic for the album’s post-apocalyptic atmosphere…total ‘80s-style, of course! Each song is gassed up with enough energy to roam the wasteland for days on end, but what sets SIGN OF THE JACKAL’s third album apart from its predecessors is its HOOKS; be it because the more-patient pacing or the space between notes ringing more richly, Heavy Metal Survivors’ eight vocal-led tracks retain a catchiness that’s so engaging and engrossing, it’s not impertinent to suggest that they could’ve landed on the radio circa 1986…late night, of course! And while SIGN OF THE JACKAL’s aesthetic signposts haven’t changed all that much since the last album – or the beginning, for that matter, as Warlock’s True as Steel remains a huge influence – LP#3 moves the Italians even closer to classic Dokken at their speediest as well as Tokyo Blade, Virgin Steele, Finland’s OZ, America’s Abattoir and Chastain or even W.A.S.P. at the leanest and meanest. Through it all, though, there’s that FEELING: of fun, of glory, of eternal obeisance to the electrical currents of classic metal that remain etched in stone to a specific era in a specific way, raised up and reborn with vitality and vigor. Those who know, know, and they’re among the Heavy Metal Survivors!

– Regular edition on black vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card and download code.
– Special edition on creme colored vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card, download code and patch.
– CD edition with sticker and obi.

DVP 309 Raptore – Renaissance LP/CD

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present RAPTORE’s highly anticipated third album, Renaissance, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

From their humble beginnings in 2012, RAPTORE have risen to the top of the true metal pack in the intervening decade. The band’s roots started with vocalist/guitarist Nico Cattoni, originally hailing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and his first lineup released their first demo in 2014 and then the debut album Rage N’ Fever in 2016, which allowed RAPTORE to tour South America and open for such bands as Exciter and Enforcer. Then, not being able to find suitable musicians for a steady lineup, Nico decides in 2018 to move to Europe in order to give his band better opportunities and recognition. He set base in Barcelona and completed the lineup with three of the most talented musicians in the scene. While they were booked for festivals such as Pyrenean and Trveheim, unfortunately, the pandemic delayed those concerts until 2022. Meanwhile, RAPTORE were brewing their breakthrough record, the full-length Blackfire. Eventually released during the summer of 2022 through DYING VICTIMS, Blackfire literally EXPLODED with an excitement that simply could not be contained – and the international metal scene took notice.

With the stage thus set, RAPTORE manage to magickally eclipse that feat with their third album, Renaissance. Truly titled, Renaissance is a tour-de-force of classic & classy HEAVY METAL steeped in all the black velvet and neon-lit chrome of the mythical ‘80s. So authentically rendered and passionately played, so rapturously engaging and dreamily transcendental, so simply AWESOME (and – again – explosive), it would not be remiss to suggest that RAPTORE somehow travelled through time and returned with a lost sacred scroll from 1986 or even 1989. Across its whip-tight nine tracks in 34 minutes, Renaissance spans a wealth of vintage metallic styles – smoothly cruising speed metal, Sunset Strip darkness, hard rock mysticism, juiced-up hair metal – and weaves them into a rich tapestry of moody & melodic metal that’s so silky and elegant at every turn, simple aesthetic pigeonholing doesn’t apply.

Granted, RAPTORE are very much (and always will be) a metal band above all, but their songwriting and textural coloring have grown impossibly more on Renaissance: by turns, a more “mature” and yet also more “fun” version of themselves. The stained-glass organ & synth intro opens the headspace for the focused eclecticism to follow; there’s a brightness to their attack that soon submits to the shadows – not straight-to-the-abyss “darkness,” but not peering away from it, either – and the deftly layered, powerfully HUGE production allows RAPTORE’s musings to take on an even greater and more personal emotional heft. So, while Renaissance could be likened to the underdog metal that clawed its way onto the radio during the latter half of the ‘80s, Nico & crew exude a daresay smarter sensibility to their catchier-than-ever anthems.

From masterclass to world class, RAPTORE are breaking the chains of their breakthrough record with that ever-crucial third album. How far Renaissance will go, we can only speculate, but it’s not unjust to suggest it stacks alongside other velvet metal classics like Don Dokken’s Up From the Ashes, W.A.S.P.’s Inside the Electric Circus, Whitesnake’s Slip of the Tongue, Warlock’s Triumph and Agony, the more serious moments to Slaughter’s Stick It to Ya, or even ‘80s KISS during theirs – as well as, of course, such cold-steel killers like Judas Priest’s Defenders of the Faith and Scorpions’ Blackout. Ready for this Renaissance?

– Regular edition on black vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card and download code.
– Special edition on red/black marbled vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card, download code and patch.
– CD edition with sticker and obi.

DVP 310 High Warden – Astral Iron LP/CD

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present HIGH WARDEN’s highly anticipated debut album, Astral Iron, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

Hailing from Münster, Germany’s HIGH WARDEN was founded by vocalist / guitarist Alastair van Morgue-Gûl and drummer Sadistic Hammer in 2022. The first sign of life from this self-proclaimed “Morgul Doom Commando” was the demo Land of Stone, released in early 2023 by DYING VICTIMS. Initially hired as a live bassist, Lord Perish joined the band as a full-time member that year.

With their lineup thus set, HIGH WARDEN prepare to ride into battle with their full-length debut, Astral Iron. The title serves as an aesthetic springboard for their idiosyncratic sound. Granted, HIGH WARDEN are influenced by legendary bands like Reverend Bizarre, Doomsword, Bathory, Manilla Road, Pagan Altar, Trouble, and Mercyful Fate, but their version of epic heavy / doom metal is as foreign as it is familiar: Slow Heavy Metal, as they accurately refer to it.

Recorded live, Astral Iron pounds and pulses vibrantly, deploying riffs coursing and crushing barbarically before leaving wide-open spaces in anticipation of that next addicting slash of ancient steel. HIGH WARDEN’s tones match their execution – earthen and mossy, grit encasing clarity – and each of the album’s five primary tracks (“Burgfrieden” is a hauntingly serene synth interlude that gives way to feedback) lumber forward with epic aplomb and high adventure. The vocals of A. v. Morgue-Gûl are plaintive and poignant, illustrating tales mainly based on individual thoughts but suitably packaged as analogies to various fantasy works (like those of J.R.R. Tolkien), historical events, and legends & myths. Unbelievers only need to hear Astral Iron’s closing epic “We Shall Burn at Foreign Shores (The Choice of Achilles)” to witness the blanching power of HIGH WARDEN!

– Regular edition on black vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card and download code.
– Special edition on transparent violett vinyl, with insert, poster, sticker, post card, download code and patch.

BOTTOMLESS are likely familiar to those following the dark deeds of DYING VICTIMS, for the Italians released their second album, The Banishing, through the label last summer.
