this is actually a cross post on another forum I posted, but I wnat to share it with my metal borthers here!

UDO - Thunderball
Latest album from ex-Accept vocalist. Not to bad, but not his best.. at least not yet, still listening to it. Best track in my opinon: "Train Ride to Russia"

The Storm - s/t
Who remembers this one? it came out over a decade ago.. probably too lite for everyone here, but I dig this album from the former members of Journey.

Jorn - Out To Every Nation
vocalist of the decade!!!! Jorn is hands-down one of the best singers in metal in my opinion. This album is pretty good, but really doesn't top his last one. This features members of Pagans Mind as the back up band.

Finntroll - Nattfodd
absolutly briliant! higly creative folk/balck metal! take Skyclad and cross them with Dimmu Borgir and little bit of Mr. Bungle! I just wish it was in english... but I really can't understand the unuciations anyway, so ... it still kicks mucho arse!

Elvenking - Wyrd
More Skyclad worship here... but much heavier and a bit more agressive. Very good sophmore effort!

Cryonic Temple - Blood, Guts & Glory
German power metal with many American influences. still listening to this one... not too bad!

Suffocation - Souls to Deny
ahhh, finally the return of the NY death metal giants! This is fairly decent with many of the balls & chunk the band is known for. I still prefer their last album, Pierced From Within, but this is a still a solid album with some killer riffs.

Leash Law - Dogface
a "super group" of sorts that features many of Floridas best including Wade Black (ex-Crimson Glory, Seven Witches), Rick Renstrom (Rob Rock), Richard Christy (Death, Burning Inside, Ex- Iced Earth) and Emo Mowery (ex-Nocturnus). So far this album isn't sitting very well, the musicianship is excellent, but the songs seem to be only average right now... I still need to listen to this one some more.

Others that are in the CD player this week:

Lionsheart - Abyss
TNT - My Relgion
Last Tribe - THe Uncrowned
MIllenium - Hourglass
Mayhem - Chimera
Vision Divine - Stream of Conciousness
Nocturnal Rites - New World Messiah
Emerald Rain - Age of Innocence
Atral Doors - Of the Son and the Father
Atrocity - Atlantis
Skyclad - A Semblance of Normality
Evergery - The Inner Circle
Axel Rudi Pell - King's & Queens
Pink Cream 69 - Thunderdome
Framshift - Unweaving the Rainbow
Orphand Land - Mabool
Primal Fear - Devil's Ground
Hypocrisy - The Arrival

ummm... that's about it I guess! ...any thoughts?

O.k., this weeks babies are:
Atheist - Piece Of Time
Tytan - Rough Justice
Sceptic - Unbeliever's Script (they easily could be Chuck Schuldiner's children...)
Threshold - Subsurface (the opener still is my fave song in 2004)
Wild Dogs - Reign Of Terror
Kuni - Looking For Action/Masque

Aaaah, and the 2nd Kategory V is on the way :)

Stuff I'm currently playing:

Tyrant's Reign - Tyrant's Reign
Truly old school power from the band that recorded the legendary mini-album Year of the tyrants. On November 4, Randy Barron and his thrashing metal maniacs will perform at the Keep It True festival in the south of Germany. I can't wait!

Ursa Major - Ursa Major
Excellent early heavy rock classic from 1972, with American singer/guitarist Dick Wagner, who went onto fame and a bit of fortune, too, as a songwriter for Alice Cooper and even recorded with Lou Reed. There's splendid melodies abound on this one-off - epic tracks like Sinner, In my darkest hour, Back to the land or Liberty and justice are just waiting to be (re)discovered.

Commander - The high 'n' mighty
I discovered this one through a bootleg cd-series. High-class heavy metal gem with clearly defined melodies, a raw singer and anthemic qualities. 'Pity the band (like so many others back in the day) got nowhere.

Heart - Jupiter's darling
Ann and Nancy keep on rocking in the free world.

Inner Wish - Silent faces
Fine and underrated album from Greece's finest melodic power metal act, sounding a lot like Fifth Angel on their second and, regrettably, last outing Time will tell. Great vocalist.

Girlschool - Demolition & Hit and run
Re-releases of these two Britgirl-classics.

Cage - Darker than black
Chicago power metal that rips and tears through the speakers. I keep playing this one and turning up the volume...

Ballistic - Ballistic
An absolute killer of a record, no matter what's being said about Tom Gattis' vocals - I like them!

Ra's Dawn - Solar force
Demo on CD by this German band that plays power metal with some progressive elements without losing momentum halfway through the tune. The music has a bit of an epic feel without fitting into the Manilla Road/Warlord-category. They have a privately financed, second full-length out, called Unveiling the grotesque.

Death - Symbolic
I'm ashamed to admit I arrived late in the Chuck Schuldiner Appreciation Society, but it's the vocals that put me off death metal for years. Oh well, better late than never.

Jag Panzer - Chain of command
Well, finally, this once shelved classic sees an official release on disc - I think I'll hold on to the bootleg versions for nostalgic reasons, however.

Will this do? ;)

Okay, here we go:

Threshold - Subsurface (No surprises here, but hey! WHAT kind of melodies!!)

Jag Panzer - Casting the Stones (Once more no surprises in this disc - but this band will always enter my Top 20 list easily. Harry The Tyrant is still the best)

Therion - Lemuria / Sirius B (This double-decker is heavy, it's melodic, it's orchestral - really great songs!)

Salem's Wych - Betrayer of Kings (Re-Release of this classic US Metal masterpiece - gigantic songs and a fantastic singer without a high-pitched voice but full power. This has guts, this has glory!)

Dead Soul Tribe - The January Tree (The cover is maybe Travis Smith's best work to date (simply AMAZING!!) and the music reminds me a lot of Psychotic Waltz. I didn't really like their debut, the 2nd one was better and this one is by far their best. In the last song, "Lady of the Rain", Buddy, ehm, Devon really sings like John Arch!)

Communic - Conspiracy in Mind (The best demo in years. 'nuff said)

Heathen - Victims of Deception (One of the best Power-/Thrash-Records of all time. THIS is how guitars should sound!!)

Rhapsody - Symphony of Enchanted Lands, Part II (And the contrast... ;) I know that many metallians don't like this band - but I live them! They did something REALLY amazing with their first two records and now thousands of copy-cats try to do the same. But they always fail. The new one is once again very, very impressive)

Fates Warning - Awaken the Guardian (The best band in the world with the best record of all time.)

I'm glad I have redeemed myself in your eyes ;)

BTW: I've added another disk to the cycle, namely

Hamadryad - Conservation Of Mass

and that CD hasn't left my player ever since. An outstanding piece of work...another one of those hidden prog gems most people unfortunately don't even seem to know about! A definite recommendation!

That album is great + I luv the pretty "raw" production and the vox arrangements are excellent, so I'm really looking forward to their coming album.(Unicorn sure have some great artists) B)
