Well, since METAL MANIACS suddenly folded last month and are no more, I think it is finally time for me to turn my sight towards the land of metal a.k.a Germany, and put some Stormspell adverts in some good German magazine.

So the question is, which is the best and most appropriate German metal magazine for me at the moment? Any opinions and advices would be appreciated!

I suppose for your target group, the most suitable mag should be Heavy.
Butcher with stone tools
Carcass of their prey
Savage intention

Heavy, definitely. Even to a Dutchman, that is clear. :)

True. That's It/That's Metal was an underground fanzine, though. Heavy is a national publication.

There is another bigger mag that a certain other guy is writing for. But there are only two interesting pages in it... :)
For all the words unspoken, for all the deeds undone,
for all our shattered dreams, for all the songs unsung,
for all the lines unwritten and all our broken hearts,
for all our wounds still bleeding and all our kingdoms come.

Oh that's right! I know Olli writes for HEAVY, doh!

No, I know that "That's it" was Martin Brandt's mag. And Martin now writes for Heavy too :D

I'm not very familiar with German magazines these days. In the 80s the father of one of my best friends was a truck driver and he used to bring us METAL HAMMER from Germany - that was THE magazine back then!

We couldnt read a word in German, but loved to check the monthly album score table. I always agreed with the scores Oliver Klemm gave and used to go and buy everything he scored good - never felt disappointed!

Then in the 90s Metal Hammer slowly became mainstream - nothing for us to look into. Hock Hard started good, but it went mainstream too.

I'd LOVE to be able to buy all 80s METAL HAMMER issues, although I still dont know German

Spell it so I'd know who the guy is and what magazine :D

By the way, is BREAK OUT a good magazine? Big, small?

I know also Legacy, but it looks to be more extreme oriented towards black/death scale. It is the only German mag I have advert prices for and they are pretty hefty 4-digit amounts in Euro, certainly not suitable for an indy one-man operation like Stormspell :(

Forget Break Out and Legacy. Only a waste of money..I think the only interestings mag would be Heavy and Rock Hard.

BREAK OUT Magazine isn't that bad but more for the AOR listeners. And LEGACY has definetely NOT the Metal Fans who buy your stuff, Legacy is more into Black/Death/Viking and Folk stuff.
And the German METAL HAMMER is really not worth mentioning ;)
