Vocalist Brian O'Connor has officially left long-running San Francisco Bay Area metallers VICIOUS RUMORS. O'Connor has sent the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET regarding his decision to exit the group:

"After eight years, it's not without some sadness that I have decided to end my journey as the lead vocalist of VICIOUS RUMORS. It's been a long haul with great memories, but I have given my last commitment to VICIOUS RUMORS.

"The truth is that after the many adaptations that the group has endured, VICIOUS RUMORS seems to have lost the unity and brotherhood that once was. Furthermore, the lack of respect, management, leadership, trust, and most of all, the belief in one another, were all factors in my decision to move on. I've gone above and beyond with dedication and passion, but I cannot continue with VICIOUS RUMORS under these circumstances within the group.

"Thanks to my family, friends and all the fans that stood by me through these years ? I love you. Keep your ears open for my next group, which will include members of VICIOUS RUMORS and HEATHEN ? you haven't heard the last from me!"

Pretty harsh words if you ask me!

I saw VR with Connor years ago when they supported Blind Guardian on their German 'Imaginations from the other side' tour and found him to be an excellent singer who hit every note, be it high or low. To be honest, he did look a bit out of place at first with his crew cut and nineties outfit and all, but actually turned out to be a saving grace for a seriously faltering band. Too bad Geoff and the rest of VR didn't take the musical compositions to a level that was suited to Brian's voice (or to their old fans' tastes for that matter).
Okay, I'm off to bed now - c-y'all here later.

Yeah, I thought he was really good when I saw them.

I wonder who Geoff will get now.

Still have to hear this singer.... never dared to listen any V.R. records after "word...".... was it a mistake? I've seen so many negative reviews about the stuff they did after this album....

Well, the stuff VR put out after 'Word of mouth' was pretty much a downward spiral, so not really a mistake there, I guess. But Brian is just a damn good singer and Geoff is an axeman (who used to be) capable of some incredible writing and performing. On the performing front he remains a force to reckon with, but as for his writing... I hope he'll come to grips with things once again and get the VR-train back on track. Still, Brian's exit is a loss for the band no matter how you look at it.

Vicious Rumors is one of my favourites bands of all time, but it´s true that after "Welcome To The Ball" the band lost their way. Although there are some good songs on "Word Of Mouth" it´s not the high class Speed Metal attack of their first four albums. "Something Burning" and "Cyberchrist" are two albums to be totally forgotten, and "Sadistic Symphony" is a good album with an awful sound. Brian O´Connor doesn´t sing on it, but Morgan Thorn make a good work, not as good as Brian, but very good anyway.
The four new songs I have heard f "Inmortal" (the suposed title for the new album), are totally killer, classic Vicious Rumors Speed Metal.
It´s very sad the Brian O´Connor departure, I hope that Geoff Thorpe fid someone who fits, because the band has lost one of it´s colums.

Heavy Metal Shall Dominate!!!!!
