Picked up some early Metal Massacre CD's used recently once again that I originally had on vinyl (volumes 2 and 5) and there are many bands that I wish we could learn the full story about. Any chance anyone could find members from the following acts to get some Snakepit stories going? Here are some of the acts.

3rd Stage Alert- California traditional/power act with an incredible vocalist. Probably the best song on the compilation with "Mind Invader" for volume 2.

Hyksos- Another underrated traditional band from California. They should have been around for more than one album.

Surgical Steel- Arizona band that definitely had an affinity for Judas Priest. I remember Dan Wexter talking highly about them when I got the chance to interview Icon back in an earlier Snakepit issue...

Final Warning- another underrated California band on a compilation that was loaded with future talent (Omen, Voivod, Attacker, Overkill, Fates Warning, Metal Church)...

I don't have any idea what they are up to these days, but Surgical Steel were Rob Halford's pet band for quite a while in Phoenix. The band would play a set of originals, then a set of Priest covers with Rob on vocals. I saw them at a small club while I was down there in the mid 1980s. That was awesome! I have pics around here somewhere...

You've really made me want to check out all the MM albums now!

Surgical Steel shouldn't be too hard to get into contact with, their singer Jeff Martin is still active with Racer X and other projects:
